Many Doctor Visits!

While Rick was in the hospital for his 1st seizure, they did a scan that showed some nodules on his thyroid. So they referred him to a thyroid doctor. We have seen Dr. Cantley twice now, each time he did a biopsy on these nodules. The first report was inconclusive bringing about the second biopsy. Dr. Cantley said the second one didn't tell him much more than the first one. He said it showed follicular proliferation and follicular neoplasm. He still thinks it is benign but is referring Rick to the surgeon for removal. He says this surgeon is an independent thinker and will look at the reports and make up his own mind about whether Rick needs surgery or not. Our appointment with Dr. Albertson, surgeon, is April 25. So we will know after that appointment what is going to happen.

When Rick was seen at the VA clinic, Paul Bailey,PA-C did a prostate exam and said that one side was larger than the other. So he sent Rick to the urology clinic for further workup. This PA, Tim, said that the enlargement was just normal with age. He did say he wanted to follow Rick in 6 months.

So it looks like Rick is getting a good thorough work up for his health. I am glad. We are seeing doctors at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and at the VA Outpatient Clinic. We have never been to the doctor so much in our lives - other than practically living in Dr. Pearce's office. :o)

Thanks again for all your prayers. We know that God "works all things together for good to them that love God and are called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28
