Seizure Doctor Appointment

We went to the appt with Dr William Bell today, the seizure doctor. Rick’s Dilantin level yesterday was 25.5. On 021809 it was 14.3. He has been on name brand Dilantin about 2 weeks. His last seizure was 021809 and his last grand mal was 010809.

His medications are:

Topamax 50 mg bid
Keppra 1500 mg bid
Dilantin 100 mg 1 am 2 pm
Zoloft 50 mg qd
Children’s multivitamins
Vitamin C 300 mg qd

The plan is to decrease the Dilantin to 2 qd for a month and then down to 1 a day for 2-3weeks and then discontinue it. We may increase the Topamax by 25 mg if he has any seizures. I am very happy about this plan.
